Asian Knowledge Management Association (AKMA) was established in 2001, facilitated by the Unit for Chinese Management Development of the City of University of Hong Kong. In Sept of that year, the innovative and informative "Knowledge Management: The Key To Success in the 21st Century" book was published - the first ever of its kind to be published in Hong Kong.

In April 2002, the City of University of Hong Kong hosted a grand seminar on Knowledge Management and it was also a celebration for the book launch. An impressive crowd of 300 people attended this milestone event.

In January 2003, AKMA was interviewed by Metro Radio Finance and signed on an agreement with Career Times for a featured column on Knowledge Management.

In May 2003, we official announced the "IP8001 Intellectual Property Management System Standard", "KM8001 Knowledge Management Standard" and "IC8001 Intellectual Capital Standard." We are the first institution to gain this prestigious recognition.

The official inauguration ceremony of AKMA was in September 2003. The honorable Ms Rita Fan graced the ceremony as she presented the Honorary Fellowship Award to Ron Young and other internationally-famous businessmen

In 2004, AKMA was actively developing media relations with Hong Kong Economic Times, Ming Pao and Oriental Daily. In May, AKMA established a Fellow of Business Administration Program, with over 200 CEOs, Presidents, entrepreneurs and management level leaders in attendance.

In 2005, we held a launching ceremony for "The Key to Success" and Fellow of Business Administration programs, presenting Honorary Fellowship to Mr Cheung Chun San and Bernard Chien-Chiu Li. The first CEO book was also published in the same year by Dr Peter Liao.

In 2006, AKMA's Fellow of Business Administration Program is in accordance with the Australian Technology University and the Canadian Management University and is acknowledged by most institutions. In 2006, AKMA and Wen Wei Po joined forces for the Leadership Brand Publishing Project.

Since its establishment, AKMA has won the support of many prestigious associations and governmental institutions including Hong Kong Junior Chamber, Hong Kong Post, Hong Kong Institute of Marketing, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and China Light and Power Group.
