KM8000 Series of Standards
Standards are essential in ensuring the effective operation and control of processes because they define the requirements for a management system.

KM8001 : specifies the requirements of a management system of knowledge resources and knowledge flows within an organisation in order to improve business performance and results.

This standard can be integrated with the ISO 9001:2000 (Quality), ISO 140001:1996 (Environmental) and OHSAS 18001:1999 (Occupational health and safety) management systems standards, in order to facilitate the integration of quality, environmental, occupational health and safety, and knowledge management systems by organisations, regardless of their nature.

Value creation takes place when an organisation has knowledge policies, procedures and documentation systems in place to manage knowledge processing for the realisation of its goals, objectives and strategic priorities.
